40 weeks + 4 days = D-Day

Over the last few days I have been asked maybe a bagillion times what my status was... So here it is... I made it past making Wyatt having a Christmas birthday... Then I made it to my given due date {the 27th}, and I quickly became anxious and eager to go into labor. So you can imagine my excitement when that evening in the middle of the night I awoke with several strong contractions. Of course nothing progressed... Then Tuesday Jake and I, along with some dear friends, went to have the "the salad" from Caioti Pizza Cafe. For those who have never heard of it, it was made famous for their special dressing that has been known to put some women in labor {basically has a bunch of ingredients that are known to start uterine contractions when consumed in high amounts}. Also, just a super fun place to go at 9 months because everyone is wishing you luck and you sign a mommy guestbook.

Later that day with a little walking, I started feeling some mild contractions. Few and far between, but exciting none the less! That night they got stronger and more frequent. But when I awoke Wednesday in time for my doctors appointment... They had pretty much fizzled out. Dr.P said I was "teetering in and out of labor" and he will see me soon. Wednesday night comes and after a few random contractions, they started to become rhythmic and progressively stronger. Around 2 this morning they were so bad I couldn't fall back asleep... By 6, I couldn't lay there any longer. Convinced that I would be going to the hospital sometime this morning, I promptly curled my hair, put on some light makeup, tweezed my eyebrows, ate some breakfast and
counted and breathed through my contractions. By 8:30, they were suddenly gone. GONE!! I would get a silly little thing here or there, but basically it's as if the whole painful 12 hours before me were a dream. So Jake and I went out and walked. And walked. And walked. My sweet husband would sense I was getting discouraged and he'd gently remind me to trust the Lord and His perfect timing {and then make a joke like, "keep walking even in place" or "quick do some jumping jacks"}. And miraculously around 2:24 pm this afternoon {I have been glued to my watch...} I started getting those "knock the breath right out of you" contractions. And so they have continued for the last 5 hours. They started at 10 minutes apart and are now 6 minutes apart ranging from 65-90 seconds long. The goal before we head to the hospital is 3-5 minutes apart for 2 hours lasting 60-90 seconds long.

So here I am, trying to rest to save up energy for what I imagine will be a long night. I am trying to  cherish my last moments holding my sweet boy in my belly {and he is going crazy today!} and some last simple moments with my hubby.

Also, with all that walking today, Jake and I put the finishing touches on Wyatt's room!! Here are a few sneak peaks... Hard to believe a baby will be putting this room to use in just days {Lord willing!}

With that I leave you. Please pray for a safe {and quick!} delivery. That it would be tonight or tomorrow and that in the thick of the painful labor I would remember that I can do all things through Him who strengthens me {Philippians 4:13}.

Next time I write I will be a real MOM and it will no longer be just the two of us, but the Brodsky THREE!!!

Baby under construction

Oh the sweet blessings in life! One major one was the awesome shower 3 very special women threw for me a month ago. {I have been super busy getting ready for this baby!} Wyatt's Grandma, Bubby and Auntie pulled out all the stops and fused manly construction {for Wyatt} and a yummy tea {for me}. It was adorable!

I don't have all the pictures back from everyone taking them, so the few I have will have to do!

When guests arrived the walked down a path of construction cones and balloons with Wyatt's name on them.

The house was draped with "caution" tape and blue tarp table cloths. The table was filled with some of my favorite foods, including hard hat cut-outs of egg salad sandwiches. But to make the table set-up even cuter, they used BIG trucks as serving platters!! {which doubled as future toys to keep my little boy very entertained!} My mom, the cake maker extraordinaire, made 2 cakes. A dump truck and a construction worker Teddy bear... So cute!!

My grandma {Wyatt's Great Grandma} made her yummy chocolate in the shapes of tools as favors with caution tape ribbon... Which admittedly I still am snacking on since I took a handful.

We played some fun games... One which was super creative and a true brain-buster. Guest were give paper men with different textiles on them and had to guess the profession based on the meaning of that fabric. {example: a blue cotton print was a architect, and a piece of batting would make him a baseball player... Get it? Cute huh?!} And as prizes, guests won girlie floral print tool sets!

My chair was reserved with this cute sign...

Other signs read "Inspector Bubby", "Foreman Grandma" and "Unskilled Worker" (for Jess..heehee)!

All in all it was a wonderful day filled with wonderful family and friends! To my amazing hostesses, thank you for the countless hours spent to make this day truly special! All the fun details and decorations made this little boys shower a true stand out! I feel blessed to have family like you three and I know Wyatt will feel the love overflowing for his G-Mas and Auntie! I love you all!

38 weeks & CrAzY!!

Yes you read that correctly... I am already 38 weeks pregnant!! Some days I feel like I just took a positive pregnancy test, and others I feel like I've been pregnant my whole adult life and I will be "with child" forever {which I party blame on the denial portion of pregnancy that a REAL BABY comes out of this and it's not just a way of life!!}

As you can imagine, I've been a little crazy... My lists have lists! I carry around with me a small note pad that has pages and pages of lists. It is the only thing keeping me organized and not panicking. You see, it's Christmas time. And in addition to it being the traditional crazy salon season, I'm adding maternity leave to the end of it, Christmas shopping, baby shower duplicate returns, nursery set up, gadget building, thank you card writing, Christmas concert singing, chair reupholstering {yes you read that correctly, me and my bestie, Beth thought it fun to reupholster a winged back chair at 9 months pregnant for Wyatt's room...} and the list goes on!

Currently it is 3:30am my second night in a row being WIDE awake. Part "comfort issues", part "can't turn off my brain syndrome" and part "I can be getting so much done right now if I didn't need to sleep" mentality. So knowing I need to rest I thought I'd touch base with you all and blog!! It's been awhile but I promise I have been blogging on my phone in down times but unable to upload all the pictures from showers and other fun. So beware, there will be a mass postings of blogs in your future {unless Wyatt comes sooner than later} once I have a second to sit in front of a real computer. What's to come? 2 shower postings, a video clip of Wyatt rocking out in my belly, nursery pictures and the new belly pictures {even some maternity photo shoot pics shot by our friend and oh so talented photographer Aaron Funk}....

In the mean time....
{QUICK FUN FACTS}
::I am 38 weeks pregnant.

::I am currently 1 cm dialated!! Which makes Dr.P very pleased with my progression and leads him to think I'll be right on track with my due date.

::Although Dr.P just says "he's a good size"...my what to expect app says Wyatt is about 7 pounds and 21 inches long.

::Heartburn has taken it's reign in me for the first time in my life. {old wives tale says that means the baby has hair... so maybe that faux-hawk isn't too far from his future}. PS Tums are my near and dear friends now.

::I have begun to waddle... I try really hard to walk like a lady, but when I'm tired there is no promising!!

::This week marks the first water retention of my pregnancy! Praise God since I stand on my feet all day! I came home after a long day at work to find that my feet had been replaced with a trolls pair!!! If I had veins still in my feet that night, you would never know...

::My preggers bestie, Kim, is in labor as we speak!! Which excites me to meet baby girl Taylor. And scares me, cause that means I'm next!

::Wyatt still prefers my left side, although since he is head down and ready to come, its his feet that prefer my left rib, left lung and left love handle.

::My hospital bag is finally packed!

::My to-do list is no where close to being finished, and I have a feeling it won't be, but that's okay, the Lord is in control.

::I have been cramping a lot the last few days, which apparently means I am "warming up"... so along with my constant Braxton Hicks I hear the time clock ticking LOUD AND CLEAR {I really need to finish that chair...}

Please pray for my anxiety as we head down this crazy Christmas/birthing season. Jake and I feel like we might never rest again {especially if I keep waking up in the middle of the night like this!!} but ultimately we must rest in God's sovereignty and the comfort that He can stretch our time as He deems best.

Showered with Love

This post is long overdue! I am starting to feel a trend coming on... amazing stories to write and so little time!! I can only imagine the loss of free time that is quickly approaching me. So I better get to it and stop diddle dallying....

A few weeks ago, a lovely group of ladies threw me a shower above all showers. It all started with handmade invites, complete with a sewn on fabric swatch of one of our nursery fabrics...

Excitedly I waited a few more weeks and with a few hints the night finally came!! I can't explain the love I felt when I walked through the door and saw every tiny detail and thought behind all the planning. All the effort it took to pull this shower off litereally took my breath away and left me oooing and awwwing for days!

{Me with the beautiful hostesses!!! More on them later...}

These girls put so much into the shower and not only made me feel super special but also Wyatt's G-Ma's {mine and Jake's mom's self proclaimed nickname} and Auntie. When they arrived they found themselves reserved seats with brag books in the same amazing nursery print!!

There were banners sewn in the different prints, napkins with Wyatt's name, coffee cups custom designed for us, pencils personalized and lots and lots of yummy treats! Oh but that's not even the half of it...so instead of telling you, how about you see for yourself!

{yummy...this belly is about to get a little bigger!!}

{favor doggie boxes & personalized napkins}

{pencils saying "baby Wyatt is on his way!" and "it's a BOY for the Brodskys!"

{WYATT letters and some banners that will be making an apperence in the nursery...}

{Adorable "Brodsky" coffee cups}

{On the back were little custom squares like Starbucks cups...& of course "W" stir sticks!}

{bow wreaths decorated the front door and 2 rocking chairs on the front porch}

{everyone took home magnets reminding them to pray for baby Wyatt...and prayers are much appreciated!}

{Julie took pictures of me one day and framed prints as decor}

{Everywhere....}

{I mean everwhere!!}

{didn't believe me?...EVERYWHERE!}

{we were showered with lots of presents and some much love!}

{I also had thank you cards to match!}

{some of the amazing flower arrangements}

{we played a trivia game...questions all from this very blog!}

{and had a wonderful devotion from my bible study leader for the last 3 years, Kristin Stone}

{Quite possibly one of  projectbrodsky.com's most devoted fans Vickie!}

{Me with Jennie, a fellow preggers, Emy & the woman responsible for most the yummy treats...Elyse}

{Me with Shannon & Lauren}

{Me with Heidi, Jenny & baby Amelia}

{Me with Jill, Kate & Tiffany}

{The hostess with the mostest!!}

Julie, words can not express how much I love and appriciate you!  Thank you for opening up your home {& fully renovating it} for quite possibly one of the best baby showers ever!! You're creativity is truly inspiring, but your love for the Lord and your gift to show His love through your hospitality is something I yearn to be! Thank you for your sewing, photographing, chocolate dipping, graphic designing, baby booking, and all around shower planning!! You are the best!

{And as my sis-in-law put it, "When I grow up, I want to be Julie"...and I second that!}

{Little Wy Wy's Auntie Jack Jack}

Jackie, your excitement for this shower kept me intrigued the whole planning process! I can always count on you for encouragement and enthusiasm in all things, and it is refreshing and uplifting. I am so thankful God brought you into Brenny life and our group of friends so that you and I can grow closer together! I am so thankful for all your hard work on the sewn invites, scrapbook and even the mini dessert shooters. You and Julie are truly a team to be reckoned with!!

{Fashionista Angel}

Angel, thank you so much for stepping in and helping put on such an incredible night! The flowers were breathtaking, the wreaths were super fun but your zeal for all things party planning simply amazes me! The Lord has gifted you immensely in this area and I feel honored that I got to be on the receiving end of that talent! When I look at you, past your amazing style, I see a beautiful woman that can't help but glow with joy for the Lord whose kind words make me feel truly special!

For all those ladies there that night, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!! Jake and I {& baby Wyatt} are truly blessed to have friends like you. God extends His love to us through the love of those around us, & we felt the love that night! You are all truly special to us & are so excited to have you all come along side us through this CRAZY new journey we are about to go down.
