Birthday Boy

I know everyone likes pregnancy related posts the most {who knew I was a poet?} but I needed to take a few moments to write about the rich blessings God has bestowed on me with my sweet hubby. For those who know Jake, he's an all around nice guy. But being one in flesh with him is not only filled with laughter but a love that can only be from the Lord.

It's also funny to think that years ago Jake, a junior in high school that thought he was cooler than he actually was, didn't make a great first impression on me. However, 12 years ago today, that same boy got his drivers license and this 14 year old girl who walked EVERYWHERE was asked if she wanted a ride home. And although I said no, it was instant attraction!!! He had a car {sure it didn't have air conditioning, but it was October and I wasn't going to be picky!} and now he was showing me a sweeter, less obnoxious demeanor. Well... we didn't start dating for another month and a half, but that love grew into something I can only explain as unconditional. Today that sweet boy is a man after God's heart. His desire to glorify God in our marriage and serve me by leading our household is one of the main reasons I love and adore him. His nerdiness makes me giggle. His beautiful voice soothes my nerves and makes my heart flutter. His "job skills" make me feel physically protected. His excitement, like a liitle boy on Christmas, waiting for OUR little boy to arrive {hopefully not on Christmas}. Those are just a few more reasons why I love him.

So my sweet darling, happy 28th birthday! I can't wait to celebrate {there I go rhyming away again} many more birthdays with and for you as long as the Lord wills!! I love you!

Fab Finds: Pregnancy edition

Ever since I found out I was pregnant, I have been on the hunt for the pregnancy items. Between asking fellow moms, searching the web and just trial and error, I have come upon a few items that I simply cannot live without! They have helped this pregnancy to be smooth and enjoyable! So without further adieu...

{Voskos Greek Yogurt}

Upon becoming pregnant, you immediately become aware of everything you put in your mouth. You read up on what you can and cannot have. And you realize you probably need to eat more of certain foods and nutrients. Especially in the first trimester, when the baby is doing all of its development, you need more calcium, more omega-3, more protein, more water. But not too much more... remember, you only get 200-300 more calories.  And, when eating is the the last thing you want to do, you can find this as hard as I did. So I stumbled on this 130 calorie snack.

The honey vanilla bean is my favorite, but all the flavors are amazing...except exotic fig. I repeat, NOT EXOTIC FIG! This 130 calorie yogurt has 13g of protein {which helps knock off some of the 80g I should be eating!}, it has live & active pro-biotic cultures {which help fight bacteria illnesses, amongst other things}, and it is high is calcium and potassium! All in all, a daily treat I have enjoyed! And as a bonus, here is a link to a printable coupon on their website! http://voskos.com/products.html

{Leachco Snoogle Maternity Pillow}

Almost immediately, sleeping becomes an issue. With trying your best to sleep on your left side {for optimal blood flow} and your quickly growing belly becoming more and more tender, you need all the comfiness you can get. So I turned to this {not so small} pillow...

So its true, this pillow takes up 1/4 of our bed, but Jake has asked to keep it after Wyatt comes. Apparently, it shields my body heat and he to can cuddle up to it for comfort.

{Pregnancy Personal Pilates}

Besides the convenience  that its right next door to the salon, this is an awesome way to work out and stay lean {or a least try too...} while pregnant. I highly suggest Kim or Stacey...they understand the muscles that are needed to be strengthened to benefit labor, they correct improper  stances, and the best part, they don't treat you like you're handicapped! Yes, I am pregnant but that doesn't mean I can't move my body people! Using the reform beds, they hit muscles I didn't know existed. It took a little while to get used to not sweating and running for an hour to get a work out, but with my preggo buddy Jenn, I think we have fallen into a nice groove. {Here is their info for those curious....3402 W Burbank Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505-2232...(818) 559-7259}

{Bio-Oil}

Ok, no body told me your skin can get super dry and itchy once knocked up. And for me it was like my skin was going to crawl off me. Plus, you aren't allowed to scratch cause it can encourage stretch marks. I tried numerous butters, oils, and lotions...nothing worked! Until my sweet Jamie bought me this...

With the sweet smell of Lavender, Calendula and Chamomile and enriched with just the right amount of vitamin A and E, this oil is not sticky or greasy. It moisturizes my stretching skin and hopefully prevents those unwanted stretch marks {I'll let you know in 3 months time!} And another bonus...their website also has a printable coupon! http://www.bio-oil.com/uses.html

{Ruby*Love LA Baby Books}

So most of my readers already know about the phenomenon of these adorable baby books. But I simply can't leave them off my list. Besides, the owner being a great friend and a mom I aspire to be like, the books are chic, easy to use {and keep up to date with} and help document all the milestones in raising your little one. But I don't have a little one you say? That's ok, cause she has booster packs for pregnancy, holidays, and much more.

Wanting to start right away in documenting my pregnancy, I had to be sneaky and ask Julie for a pregnancy pack for a "friend" I just found out was preggers...I wanted to tell her so bad, but only being 4.5 weeks pregnant, I bit my tongue. Later she confessed that she had a feeling it might have been me. If you're not lucky like me to have Julie as a friend and unable to make last minute stops to buy a quick baby shower gift you can visit her Etsy store... http://www.etsy.com/shop/rubylovedesigns

{J Brand maternity jeans}

If you have seen me at all lately, I live in my J Brand maternity skinny jeans! I love them, I love them, I LOVE them! Worth every penny and so grateful I bought them when I did {in fact, why didn't I go jean shopping sooner than I did?} They are super cute and even more comfy! Sorry no picture to go with this one...the one on the website is kind of creepy! So you will just have to check back soon and see the weekly belly pictures with me in them in a few profile pictures!

last 5 weeks...cliff note version

With some gentle rebukes from my readers and the amount of fun pictures stacking up on my camera, I have finally found a few minutes to sit down and share with you all the craziness that is our life!

The last 5 weeks have been a wirlwind, and even now I have a hard time sorting through it. So first I must keep with the tradition of my blog...

::Quick Fun Facts::

::I am now 27 weeks pregnant, and heading into my final trimester! {seriously when did that happen?!}

::Our boy is the size of a head of cauliflower, and my uterus is a basketball.

::He weights 2 lbs, and measures about 14.4 inches long with his teeny legs extended.

::So far I feel fab, and am loving every second of pregnancy!

::I don't mind when people I know rub my belly...in fact, I kind of LOVE it!

::I feel lots of movement throughout the day, but for the most part Wyatt is very gentle and loving to my insides.

::The most movement I feel is in the morning right after my alarm goes off. I must startle him awake...

::His strong punches can be seen from the outside now like little flutters.

::My belly has become a resting shelf for hair clippings after a haircut...

::He reacts to Jake's voice after a day spent away from him.

::My belly button is not out yet...but its close.

Now the last 5 weeks....

We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary with our expiring Disneyland passes. Besides walking around, eating churros and turkey legs and enjoying the fireworks, there is not much more for a preggo to do there. So we shopped...and ended up buying this for Wyatt's first Disney trip.

Also to celebrate our anniversary, my good friend Tiffany had her sweet baby girl {Grayson Joy} 5 weeks early! And then the very next day we had a triple preggers shower for the salon, where they celebrated me, Jenn and Tiffany {who of course was still at the hospital!}

We have tried every year to stick with the traditional anniversary gifts {1st year paper, 2nd year cotton, etc...}. This year it was iron. And since we have been meaning to visit our dear New York friends, we decided to take a trip to New York. {The plane must have SOME iron on or in it, right?} So we flew out on a Saturday night....but not before I helped host a bridal shower for my sweet friend Shelby. {Notice the dress I borrowed from Jenn in the above picture...! Thank goodness Jenn is 7 weeks ahead of me and I can totally borrow some of her clothes! I am starting to run out of options!}

No Boys allowed! {I guess Wyatt was the exception!}

Me and my PBF {preggers best friend} Kim going bump to bump...

[caption id="attachment_268" align="aligncenter" width="438" caption="{Wyatt and baby Taylor's first kiss}"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_271" align="aligncenter" width="465" caption="{All my sweet girls!}"][/caption]

So after a beautiful shower, I rushed home to finish packing then we were off to New York! We took the red eye and I must say, I will NEVER do that again pregnant! But it was the price we had to pay for a short 4 days in New York city with great friends! So we visited our great friends Chris and Kelsey, who were very conveniently house sitting for a family that lives in a 5 story house with a roof top garden, in mid-town only 2 blocks from Time Square! But to make the trip even better I got to see my dear Lacey, and meet her boyfriend!

Jake and I have both been to New York, so we mainly just layed low and caught up with our long lost friends. But here is our trip in pictures...

We drove to Long Island and saw Chris in his performance in Avenue Q...

[caption id="attachment_283" align="aligncenter" width="491" caption="{Us girls hitting the stage together for the first time since 2002!}"][/caption]

We walked through Central Park...

[caption id="attachment_287" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="{Love the beautiful park mixed with the the big city buildings!}"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_288" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="{Me with our wonderful tour guide!}"][/caption]

We shopped in a 4 story Forever 21 in Times Square...

[caption id="attachment_286" align="aligncenter" width="491" caption="{I think the boys enjoyed Forever 21 more than us!}"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_289" align="aligncenter" width="507" caption="{We had to do the tourist shot!}"][/caption]

We ate yummy German food with all of our New York friends...

[caption id="attachment_292" align="aligncenter" width="491" caption="{Me and Lacey...and her adorable boyfriend Sean!}"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_291" align="aligncenter" width="491" caption="{Our other New York friend, Nikki joined us too!}"][/caption]

Breakfast with my favorite Manhattan girls...the boys came too, but we tried to ignore them.

[caption id="attachment_293" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="{My east coast girls...I miss them!!}"][/caption]

And we rode the subway...a lot...and had fun with it...

[caption id="attachment_294" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="{um....yeah....I'm going to say probably not..}"][/caption]

The Monday after getting back, we moved the office to the craft room, the craft room to a bunch of tupperware in misc. closets and garage shelves, and the cleared the old office and made that Wyatt's nursery. We are blessed to have our family and great friends sacrifice their Labor Day to knock off a huge to-do! Thank you Bubby, Papa, Grandma, Uncle Cam, Uncle Brenny and Auntie Jack Jack! The room would never so cool without you! Here is a teaser shot of the room...but because they were all so amazing I think they deserve their own blog post :).

[caption id="attachment_295" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="{The finish result to a long day of work!}"][/caption]

I went on a Bachelorette weekend to Palm Springs to celebrate my Shelby. And got home to build the crib that Wyatt's Papa and Bubby got him!

[caption id="attachment_297" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="{Such a sturdy crib!}"][/caption]

Getting his nursery in order feels like such an accomplishment, and we are no where near finished! But we have a dresser and mattress!

Then the very next weekend, Jake's sister got married!! And to sum up her wedding day... 100 degree weather, a squirrel started an electrical fire causing half the buildings electricity to be out {including the air conditioning...}, lights and music on and off all night long, sweetheart table place cards falling into open flames causing another mini fire {thank goodness I happened to be standing there with a nice tall glass of water}, and some old friends of theirs brought some flasks and one needed paramedic attention, but then the paramedic decided to physically assault my sweet Jacob {silly EMT, you messed with the wrong guy!} But besides all of the craziness, Jessie was beautiful and calm and when things got crazy all she needed was the reminder that she just got married to her love and that the wedding was gorgeous!!

[caption id="attachment_298" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="Such a beautiful {and HOT} day!"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_299" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="{The baby cow, Moo-too was hungary and tried to eat my dress...}"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_300" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="{The proud parents...and Donny!}"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_301" align="aligncenter" width="332" caption="{The cutest ring bearer couldn't make it...he's still cooking!}"][/caption]

And my favorite part of the whole day was during the ceremony. Pastor Bill starts on the vows and Jessie turns to me, eyes wide and mouths "wow"...and I could see the reality hitting her. Amongst her wedding plans and all the talk of it all...there she was becoming a wife. And I loved it! Because at every wedding I can't help but flashback to August 21st, 2004 and cherish the emotions I still remember clear as day that I felt saying those very vows.

And to give you insight to that look she gave me...it went something like this...

[caption id="attachment_302" align="aligncenter" width="500" caption="{The new Mr and Mrs Ball!}"][/caption]

For that I will leave you...but I pinky promise it won't be for as long as I left you last time...
